Re: Bream Growth Rate bream are very slow growers as why i get a bit annoyed with people catching 50 bream that are over 35cm as this fish is most likely 20 years or older and they are taking them home. The fry feed on zooplankton during the day initially, growing quickly during the warmer months and then becoming bottom feeders that filter the substrate for invertebrates and molluscs.
They have been known to filter feed when zooplankton is in abundance. Stunted populations of Bream can occur due to successful recruitment in waters with low predation.
